Monsoon to hit Bengal in 2 days, says MeT; Kalbaisakhi alert in South Bengal
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Kolkata, warning of a stormy week ahead with rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected to impact the city. The forecast indicates a shift in weather conditions that could bring temporary relief from the prevailing heat and humidity.
According to the weather office, the city is likely to witness partly cloudy skies along with spells of moderate rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. Gusty winds and lightning activity may accompany these conditions, raising the possibility of short-term disruptions in daily life, especially during peak afternoon hours. Temperatures are expected to remain in the range of 34–36 degrees Celsius during the day, with minimum temperatures hovering around 24–25 degrees Celsius. While the weather activity may ease the intense heat, humidity levels are likely to remain high, keeping conditions uncomfortable for residents.
Meteorologists have advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity, particularly in open areas. The evolving weather pattern is being closely monitored, with authorities urging people to stay updated as conditions may change rapidly over the course of the week.
